The OnePlus Open Foldable has been confirmed to launch “soon”
The handset’s cameras will include a 50-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel camera on the rear, and a 50-megapixel camera on the front. It will have an IP68 rating as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor. It will include a 4,600mAh battery and capability for 80W rapid charging.
OnePlus announced the unveiling of its first-ever foldable smartphone during the TechCrunch Disrupt 2023 event in San Francisco, California. The new handset, according to OnePlus, is “set to redefine the concept of foldable smartphones by delivering all-around flagship-level experiences in a compact foldable form factor.” More information about the gadget, according to OnePlus, “will be available soon on the official OnePlus website, OnePlus forums, and social media channels.” Although the name “OnePlus Open” has not been confirmed this time, it was hinted a few months ago.
Meanwhile, X (previously Twitter) tipster Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) stated that the OnePlus Open will be released on October 19. Previously, it was claimed that OnePlus will deliver the foldable phone in August, but that timetable has apparently been pushed back due to the company’s last-minute decision to abandon the BOE display in favor of Samsung panels.
The OnePlus Open is expected to have an outward folding design, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Pixel Fold, and Vivo X Fold 2. It is expected to make its debut as a variant of the Oppo Find N2. It could make its debut in China first, followed by a global rollout in places like as India and the United States.
OnePlus has announced that it has been developing a foldable smartphone for quite some time. It is expected to cost less than Rs. 1,20,000.
(Expected) OnePlus Open specs
The OnePlus Open is expected to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. It is believed to have a 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED core panel and a 6.3-inch AMOLED outer screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The OnePlus Open is said to have three rear cameras: a 50-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel sensor with a periscope lens. It could include two 32-megapixel front-facing camera sensors for selfies.
